One can call Choeng Thale a study in contrasts. With its luxurious beaches of Surin and Bangtao, one can find the most luxurious villas and resorts to splendour its beautiful beaches. One can easily reach this 6 km long beach with just a few minutes of walk from the centre. The centre is bustling with locals and villagers who still keep the legacy of their ancestors alive by continuing their tradition of farming, fishing and rubber tapping.
Bangtao beach is one of the largest beaches in Phuket. For most of the stretch, the beach is desolate away from the crowd of the tourists while the southern end of the beach is filled with life and most of the hotels can be found here. In contrast, the northern side of the beach is quite peaceful. The northern parts only have a few beach bars dotted along the shore. If you manage to visit Bangtao beach between November and April, the sea is calm and flat while months between May and October can witness some rough seas.
As evident from our previous pieces, Thailand is an inexpensive country to live in or visit on a vacation. Bangtao being a major tourist destination in Phuket, prices can be a bit on the higher side but still relatively cheap especially when you are coming from a developed western country. However, if you move away from the tourist attractions and the beachfront, prices are similar to those found in Phuket. A three course meal at a standard restaurant will cost around 750 Baht while a quick meal at a fast food chain like Mc Donald’s will cost around 185 to 225 Baht. For those looking to stay in and cook for themselves to save some money, a kilogram of rice can be found around 30 Baht, a dozen eggs will cost around 60 Baht. Milk can be bought for 55 Baht per litre while a loaf of bread is around 45 to 50 Baht.
Transportation is also quite inexpensive with taxi rides starting around 40 Baht with 35 Baht per additional kilometre. If you are looking to buy a car, a standard sedan like a Toyota Corolla will cost around 850,000 to 890,000 Baht depending on the model and make. Gasoline is sold at 32 Baht per litre. One of the most inexpensive ways to travel around Bangtao is by hiring a scooter.
With close proximity to the beach, Bangtao has become a great choice for buying property in Thailand. For those looking to buy a condo, standard condos on sale can be found from 1,500,000 Baht while luxury condos on sale are priced around the 35,000,000 Baht to 50,000,000 Baht range. This all depends however on the type and location of the condo. For those looking for a villa or a house, prices for a standard house in Bangtao starts from 4,000,000 Baht while luxury villas can cost up to 130,000,000 Baht, again depending on the type and location of the property. Other expenses like electricity bills, water bill, garbage etc add around 2500 Baht to your monthly expenses for a standard condo accommodation. Internet adds another 650 to 700 Baht to your monthly bills.
If you are looking to rent a place rather than buy one, Bangtao has plenty of options to choose from. With close proximity to Phuket town and major cities in Thailand, Bangtao offers a wide range of options on any budget. Houses or villas on rent can be found for as low as 15,000 Baht a month for a standard house while luxury homes or villas on rent can be found for around 100,000 to 550,000 Baht per month depending on the size, type and location, number of bedrooms of the property. Standard condos on rent are also found from 13,000 Baht a month while luxury condos on rent can be found for around 50,000 to 111,000 Baht per month.
Bangtao is one of the best destinations in Phuket to buy your next property in Thailand. With plenty of scopes in the tourism and hospitality sectors, Bangtao is one of the most booming tourist destinations in Phuket and with prices rising day by day do not miss out on your opportunity to grab a piece of property in the heart of the tropical paradise that you can one day call “home”.
